Sharon "Kay" Ruen, 79, Olathe, KS, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 15, 2024, at home. A celebration of life will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, in the Village Green of Aberdeen Village, 17500 W. 119th St., Olathe, KS. The family requests no flowers and suggests a memorial contribution to Art is Ageless with a designation for Aberdeen Village (https://www.artisageless.org/support/), which will support a program that Kay enjoyed during her residence at Aberdeen Village. Kay was born July 12, 1944, in Hays, KS. She was the daughter of Alfred ("Dutch") and Christine Matson Kraisinger. She graduated from Phillips University in Enid, OK, and was a life-long educator. She taught for 38 years, primarily at John Kline Elementary in Decorah, IA. She loved teaching and was often cited as a favorite teacher by the students. After retiring, Kay relocated to the Kansas City area.



Kay is survived by her husband, Frank Gould; her children and their spouses, Scott and Satara Fairweather and Susan Fairweather and her spouse, Tim Richey; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emma, and Jakob Bixenman; her brothers and their spouses, Gary and Margaret, and Steve and Bonnie Kraisinger; her niece, Kristi Jo Stewart; her nephews, Kurt and his spouse, Becca, and Eric Kraisinger; her step children and their spouses, Michael, Gary and Janet, Patrick and Julie, Frank and Heather, Mary, Thomas and Jessica, and Monica Gould and Christine and Michael Hamm; and sixteen step-grandchildren, Kristen, Jake, Peyton, Madeline, Benjamin, Bethany, Lizzie, Dominic, Abigail, Amelia, Ezekiel, and Isabelle Gould and Meredith, Lauren, Adam, and Jasmine Hamm.
