Joseph Klegseth, age 68 of Decorah, IA, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2025, at WinnMed in Decorah, IA surrounded by family.

In accordance with Joe's wishes, there will be no visitation or formal services.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Winneshiek Medical Center, whose staff provided Joe with exceptional care and compassion.

Joe was born on May 28, 1956, in Minneapolis, MN, to Archie and Ruby (Nelson) Klegseth. He grew up in Spring Grove, where he attended local schools and proudly played French horn in the band.

On July 6, 1974, he married Lisa (Daniels). They made their home in Decorah and later welcomed two sons, Chad and Charles. Joe held a variety of jobs over the years, but found his long-term calling as a long-haul truck driver—a profession he remained in for more than four decades, until stepping away due to health concerns.

A man of many talents, Joe was known for his mechanical ability and determination to solve problems—often through unconventional but effective means. He approached challenges with creativity and persistence, and rarely encountered a task he could not complete.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lisa; his sons, Chad and Charles; and three grandchildren: Jolene, Parker, and Carter. He is also survived by his brothers, Phil (Maryls) and Junior; his brother-in-law, Merlin; and many beloved nieces and nephews. His three dogs—his constant companions and seat mates—were also an enormous source of joy and comfort to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Ruby; his sister, Alice; and his in-laws, Ray and Dagmar.
