Gerald "Jerry" Ralph Reckward
November 14, 1949 - October 30, 2025
Gerald "Jerry" Ralph Reckward, age 75, of Castalia, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home in Decorah on October 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry is lovingly remembered by his wife, Julie; her children, Mike (Janice) Marlow, Dawn Milligan, and Ace Marlow; and his own children, Jeannie Daughton, Rich Reckward, Cheryl Thompson, and Dawn (Matt) Teslow. He was also a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, who found endless joy in his growing family. Jerry is further remembered by his sisters Sue (Dale) Lenth, Pat (the late Jerry) Monroe, and Ginny (Roger) Sanford, as well as by many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Esther Reckward; his brother, Jim (Judy) Reckward; and his niece, Amy Monroe.
Jerry worked hard all his life — from milking cows and hauling milk to his many years at Deco Products in Decorah. Over the years, he advanced from machine operator to head of quality control, taking great pride in his work until his retirement.
A skilled craftsman and lifelong tinkerer, Jerry loved woodworking and rebuilding small engines, often creating lawn machines from the frame up. He took joy in fixing and making things with his own hands. Known for his witty comebacks and warm sense of humor, Jerry had a gift for making people laugh and lighting up every room he entered.
He will be remembered for his kindness, laughter, hard work, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
Per Jerry's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private graveside service for immediate family will be held at a later date
