Gerald Styve, age 76, of Brownsville, Texas, and Lansing, IA died on Friday, March 22, 2024, in Texas.
Gerald Phillip Styve was born on February 29, 1948 to Peter and Hazel Styve in Decorah, IA.
He was baptized and received his First Holy Communion and Confirmation at St. Benedict Catholic Church. He attended St. Benedict Catholic School through eighth grade and graduated from Ossian DeSales Catholic School in 1966. Gerald married Willie McCarthy on July 6, 1974 in California.
Gerald (Jerry) was at home on the road and traveled everywhere with his dog, Spook. He spent many summers along the Mississippi River in Lansing, IA and spent spring and fall hunting deer, wild boar and turkeys with his deer camp buddies. Jerry and Willie traveled often with their camper to see countless Nascar races all over the United States. Gerald was the owner of EGC Instruments and Controls and often traveled hours to pick up and repair pumps for his clients. Jerry always had a story to tell and could find something to talk about with just about anyone. His stories and smile will be greatly missed.
Gerald is survived by his son: Sam (Bryer) Styve, Oklahoma; Grandchildren: Mikel and Nikolai Styve; Siblings: Elaine (Jim) Sims, Decorah, IA, Wyonne (Ron) Priebe, Owatonna, MN, and Paul (Joni) Styve, Lansing, IA; Nephews: Phil (Jean) Sims, Rochester, MN, Mike (Kim) Sims, Decorah, IA, Brad (Hilary Helgeson) Sorum, Owatonna, MN, Corey (Beth) Sims, Decorah, IA, Jason (Nora) Styve, Cedar Falls, IA, and Nicholas Priebe, Little Fork, MN, and several great nieces and nephews.
Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Styve, parents, Peter and Hazel Styve; Brother: Ron Styve; Sister-in-law: Evi Styve; Nephew: Brett Styve and his special companion, his dog, Spook.
There will be a private family service at a later date.
